| Singer-songwriter Abi Hercules is a London girl born and bred and as her song goes, she’s ‘thin and quite tall, I’m a Skinny Bitch!’ Her songs are deliciously diverse in style, from rock ‘n’ roll and reggae to doo wop, pop and soul. Lyrically playful, always honest and powerful with strong hooks delivered in her distinctive, soulful voice with genuine style and flair. This is the unmistakeable sound of Abi Hercules. |
| |
‘Hercules’ storytelling and delivery suggests that Joni Mitchell may have been a formative influence, but the songs feel original and personal. Major labels spend a lot of cash promoting lesser acts – so take a listen.’

Abi’s second album ‘Cycling in Stilettos’ was released on her birthday, April Fool’s Day 2010. Abi and her band are gearing up for a busy year of gigs and festivals.
Abi is a multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, guitar, mandolin and flute. Her band, The Easy Tigers, was created in 2005 for her debut album ‘Breathe the Life of Strangers’, songs inspired by Abi’s South American travels. Since then, Abi and The Easy Tigers have been gigging from London to the Glastonbury Festival and beyond. The Easy Tigers are Dzal Martin (The Equals) on electric/acoustic guitar, Mal Darwen (Edwina Hayes) on upright bass/bass guitar, Sandira on percussion and Will Spurling on drums. Abi is delighted to have Roy Dodds (Eddi Reader) playing kit on the album and Mickey Simmonds on Hammond, Whurlitzer and keys. Along with the newly formed Hercules Horns and a trio of backing singers, Abi’s latest music has a wonderfully full sound. |

Why dip a toe in the shallows of my waters?
Why not dive in deep, swim free with me? (‘Gone’)
Crack crackedy crack cocaine gives you wings and dulls the pain.
Crack crackedy crack cocaine melts the music in your brain.
(‘Back to Crack’ about Amy Winehouse)

| An early desire to glide down a Busby Berkeley staircase in fishnets and feathers and give her Lady Macbeth…..led Abi to join the vibrant but sadly defunct Young Vic Youth Theatre . Her range was stretched to the limits - from a chicken donning a rubber glove on its head in Aristophanes' ‘Birds’ to Rizzo in a sell-out run of ‘Grease’. A three-year course at The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art followed. Whilst there, she set up the female acappella vocal group, ‘The Love Eggs’.
The next few years were spent touring The British Isles, Europe and Japan in work as diverse as Oily Cart (theatre for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties) to ‘Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story’ (theatre for people who like geeky guitarists).
She has made several TV appearances including ‘Spooks’ and of course, ‘The Bill’. The part of Angie was written for her in the film ‘Dinner Money’.
She has sung Jazz at many central London venues such as The Portrait Restaurant and The Savile Club along with many a wedding/christening/21 st /bar mizvah…. and has done vocal sessions for TV.
As the century turned, she realised that there is more to life than waiting for the phone to ring and she wrote her first song. She set up two bands as an outlet for her tunes. Firstly HERCULES (a 4-piece rock outfit) and then, The Easy Tigers (a 4-piece acoustic group).
To date, Abi’s music has been featured in Faith Alone, a short film by Stephanie Zari for Zona Pictures and Missing Friends a short campaign film around the subject of missing children.
With performances at The Glastonbury Festival and The Groucho Club with 4 Poofs & a Piano, the music goes on…
