Sugar Rush
Abigail Hercules

As the alcoholic sugar rush kicked in this morning
My first hazy thought was of you
Your inspiration terrifies
With every word you paralyse
With both feet on the ground
I'm floating higher than your wall of sound

So please let me take you for a walk in the park
We could go right now or wait
Let's wait ‘till after dark
When the moon lends its beautiful glow
And once again you'll be my sugar rush

You see some are born with little
Others born with nothing but the will to have it all
You came out with luscious words in your mouth
Listen to a pin drop as they fall
You're a poet for the people
For the freaks the geeks and the small

You can't get away with murder
‘Though children are the sweetest kill
You can run her over and over
And she'll come running back for your bitter pill

You're her distant rock ‘n' roll daddy
She's got scars to show for it all

So please let me take you for a walk in the park
We could go right now or wait
Let's wait ‘till after dark
When the moon lends its beautiful glow
And once again you'll be my sugar rush
